The Federal Government’s goal is to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to small disadvantaged businesses. To support this overall goal, the Federal Government has set up multiple programs to provide a level playing field to small businesses. One such program is the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program which is designed to help small businesses to help small businesses compete and grow in the Federal market.

Federal Government agencies can contract with 8(a) companies by using sole-source set-asides (upto $4.5M), in addition to competitive set-asides to limit competition to 8(a) companies. These options can help to simplify the acquisition process, reduce award timeframes, and allow the agency to gain credit for working with small, disadvantaged businesses.

The Parnin Group is an awardee of the GSA’s Multiple Award Schedule (MAS). GSA issues long-term governmentwide contracts that provide federal, state, and local government buyers access to commercial products, services and solutions at pre negotiated prices. MAS makes buying easy and efficient with the use of modern technology to connect government buyers and industry.

The Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification program is a state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose is to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM businesses participating in state-funded projects. The Parnin Group has been certified as 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business and holds a Swam certification in Virginia.

Maryland’s MBE Program is a well-recognized as a national model for minority inclusion in State procurement and contracting. MBE firms are able to distinguish themselves from their competitors because, while any business may perform on a State contract, only MBE certified firms can fulfill minority participation goals. TPG is excited to add this important designation – a valuable tool to work with agencies in Maryland.
